The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) require that all lifting equipment is thoroughly examined by a competent person at regular intervals. Failure to comply can result in prosecution, equipment prohibition, and most critically — injury or loss of life.

WIRE ROPE SLINGS
With in-house swaging capabilities for wire rope up to 30mm diameter, LMS can manufacture bespoke wire rope assemblies from our extensive stock held in Coatbridge.
CHAIN SLINGS
Holding a wide range of chain in stock, including 7mm, 8mm, 10mm and 13mm sizes, LMS can supply Grade 8 chain slings on a same-day basis, with Grade 10 assemblies available the next day. All chain slings are manufactured to order, ensuring they are tailored to your specific load and application requirements.

EXAMINATION & TESTING
Our LEEA-qualified engineer carries out a thorough examination of your equipment. Where proof load testing is required, we utilise our in-house test beds or bring our testing equipment to you.
DEFECT REPORTING
Any defects, non-compliances or items requiring attention are clearly documented with recommendations for remedial action or replacement.
CERTIFICATION ISSUED
A full LOLER-compliant thorough examination report is issued, documenting the safe working load, next examination date and any conditions of use.

COMMON QUESTIONS
How often does lifting equipment need to be inspected?
Under LOLER 1998, lifting accessories such as slings must be thoroughly examined at least every 6 months. Lifting equipment used to lift people must be examined every 6 months; other lifting equipment at least every 12 months, or in accordance with an examination scheme.
Can you inspect equipment on our site?
Yes — we offer both workshop-based and on-site inspection services. For large installations or equipment that cannot easily be transported, our engineers can travel to your premises.
What happens if equipment fails the inspection?
